Sarah Specht, a Department of Chemistry graduate student in the Hermans Group, took first place in the Three-Minute Thesis contest held by the UW-Madison Graduate School. Specht studies inorganic chemistry with a focus on the kinetics of silver catalyzed propylene epoxidation using molecular oxygen as the oxidant. Though it sounds complicated, she was able to explain her research in three minutes to an audience and to the judges.
