UW-Madison Department of Chemistry Celebrates Graduating Students
May 17, 2019 — The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Chemistry celebrated 75 Bachelors of Science degrees, six with honors; eight Masters of Science degrees, and 57 doctoral degrees at a ceremony with friends, family, faculty and staff.
The students graduating with bachelor’s degrees included three Hilldale Fellowship recipients, one student who received honorable mention for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for undergraduate excellence in the sciences, six honors graduates, and participants in three research publications with undergraduate authors. In addition, 69.3 percent of the graduating class conducted at least one semester of undergraduate research.
The graduate students also excelled while at UW-Madison, with one Advanced Opportunity Fellowship, four Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowships, nine National Science Foundation fellowships, one Graduate School fellowship, one National Institutes of Health fellowship, and four National Institutes of Health traineeships.
