Construction Update 10/21/2019

New Tower. There was a lot of activity in the new tower last week. We now have additional concrete floors and extensions of concrete columns above the basement and first-floor levels, concrete walls up to the second-floor level for the west stairwell, and shoring under construction for the floor of the information commons on the second level.

Air-handling equipment has been moved into basement and sub-basement mechanical rooms in preparation for its installation there. Because these areas are already enclosed with concrete ceilings as well as floors, special pulleys and hoists are required.

Backfilling of gravel around the sub-basement and basement walls that was scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of last week was only partially completed, because waterproofing and insulation had not been finished in time.

Daniels. Electrical equipment continues to be installed in the Daniels sub-basement. Walls have been completed for a new access stair between Daniels and the new tower, and workers are applying stone facing on the area-well wall outside the Daniels sub-basement and basement.

Loading Dock. We expect the loading dock to be closed on two days sometime during the next two weeks. There may be brief closures at unpredictable times.

This information is up to date as of Friday afternoon. Email bulletins will be provided as needed.
