Louis’s career at Lilly spanned 31+ years as a drug inventor in medicinal chemistry with areas of focus including: antibacterial agents, antiviral agents, antifungal agents, cancer drug delivery systems, cancer epigenetics, endocrinology, and neuroscience.

He is married to Thalia I Nicas Ph.D. who was a microbiology professor at the University of Ottawa’s medical school before joining the Lilly Research Labs. She retired from Lilly as a Research Advisor after 25 years of working in various research positions. In addition, Louis’s cousin Luke Jungheim received his bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison.

He most recently served as a consultant to the Stop TB Partnership’s working group on new TB drugs.
He is on the board of directors of the Inuit Art Society (inuitartsociety.org), and a president emeritus of the organization.
